In 2007, the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) adopted new fundamental recommendations on radiation protection in ICRP Publication 103 (ICRP103). The recommendations revised procedure for the assessment of effective dose used for radiological protection. The revision required new dose conversion coefficients for external radiation exposures. The sets of conversion coefficients were compiled by the Task Group on Dose Calculations (DOCAL) of ICRP Committee 2, and published as ICRP116. This presentation reviews ICRP116 and discusses the impact of new dose conversion coefficients on radiation protection practice.

Estimation of astronaut doses are of great importance in the planning of long-term space missions. In 2013, International Committee of Radiological Protection (ICRP) released their publication 123 entitled "Assessment of Radiation Exposure of Astronauts in Space", which includes the information on radiation environment in space, quantities used in radiological protection, methods of measurement of radiation fluences and doses, radiation fields inside spacecraft and human body, operational radiation protection in space etc. It also annexes the dose conversion coefficients calculated by Particle and Heavy Ion Transport code System: PHITS. The brief summary of ICRP123 will be presented at the meeting.
